About Max's Pet Supplies
Gardnerville, NV
Keeping it Local Since 2003
After moving back to Douglas County, Kori struggled to find a place in town to buy natural pet food. She stumbled upon a cute little dog bakery in old downtown that was happy to order specialty pet food for her dog and 3 cats. When it closed, Kori knew she couldn’t be the only one looking for higher quality pet food and supplies. With her passion for pets, She opened Max’s, determined to offer elevated options to the local pets and pet parents of the valley.
At Max’s, you will find a shop focused on dog and cat friendly supplies and natural nutrition. Kori and her knowledgeable staff look forward to curating long lasting relationships with our clients(two and four legged, alike) and providing a great selections of items to keep your pet looking and feeling their best!

Wait, Who’s Max?
Max was a Labrador/Akita mix adopted locally from the Douglas County Animal Shelter. A couple of years before opening the store, Kori was a volunteer for Douglas Animal Welfare Group walking shelter dogs. She met Max not long after he was surrendered and was taken with his confidence and inquisitiveness. He would watch the radio controlled airplanes fly through the air on their walks, from the near by model airplane field, as if entertained. It wasn’t long after that the forms were filled and he had a new home to call his own.
Max was just a hair over 82lbs and underweight when he was adopted, he became a good scavenger to survive. He grew to be nearly 100lbs in his prime but, Max never let go of those lessons in survival. When he was good, he was good, but when he was bad, he was oh so very very bad. Go in to the shop and ask Kori to share some of the classic Max stories: He once stole tri-tip off a barbecue while it was cooking, or there was time he managed to obliterate an unopened can of cat food he swiped from the kitchen counter. He was smart, he was naughty, and he was a ton of fun. Sadly, they only had ten years together, but the shop that’s named after him still holds his legacy. Kori still continues to adopt “recycled” dogs, still likes them naughty and is still learning what they have to teach her.
